Let's celebrate our district's Social Emotional Learning (SEL) initiative "I Show Empathy for Others" with the Gift of Food!

The Meadows Thanksgiving Food Drive is on! Between now and November 18th, we are accepting canned goods and non-perishable food items to help those in need. Collection bins will be located at the outside of the front office and just inside the Rowell Ave. gate (by the upper playground). This year, we're excited to support support South Bay Food Initiative (the organization was founded by Mira Costa students!). If each Meadows student brings in one item, we’ll have over 300 items to donate! During the months of November and December, our district is encouraging students and our community to focus our SEL learning on concepts related to “I Show Empathy for Others.” The food drive is just one part of our programming. Along with classroom discussions, we encourage families to discuss “empathy” at home using topics such as: the significance of a food drive, why every donation makes a difference, gratitude, different ways to make a difference, helping others, and understanding differences. We appreciate your participation and support!
