9th Grade Class Request Available for MCHS

What
9th Grade Class Request Available for MCHS
When
4/18/2017

Mira Costa will open the window for students to request classes for the 2017-2018 school year beginning April 18th. In order for your student(s) to be prepared for this process, please read the information shared in this email.

The district is currently in transition from Power School to a new student information system called AERIES. This system is also used to create the master schedule. All students have new accounts in the AERIES system, which they will use to complete their course selections for the following school year.

All students in Manhattan Beach are also assigned a Google Apps for Education email address. AERIES account information and course selection information will be sent to those assigned email accounts. Students who have been in the district have used the accounts at MBMS. The naming convention for the student email addresses is as follows:

(Last two digits of Year of Grad)(Last Name)(First Initial)@mbusdapps.org

Example: [email protected]

This example is for John Smith who will graduate in 2017.

In some cases, student accounts were customized over the years. A student’s mbusdapps.org account might be different and not align with the naming convention explained in the example above. If this is the case for your student’s account, please email [email protected]. In the email, include the following information: Student Name, student ID number, and the mbusdapps email customized for them. Our IT department will connect both accounts to the student account in AERIES in order to not disrupt their access.

Please verify that your student can log in with their student email account. Your student has receive an email to their mbusdapps.org email address with AERIES login information, password and directions for course selection for the next school year.

Please note that there is no priority in requesting classes. Students will select the classes they would like to take in 2017-2018 during the April window. The master schedule will be built around those course requests. It is very important to select wisely now, as students will be assigned the classes they request in April to their schedules for the following school year. Course changes in the fall will be challenging and students may not be able to make changes due to a compacted master schedule. Please spend time discussing and selecting the courses that your student would like to have next year.

Please see course request information that will be sent to your student here. Course Selection Information for Students 2017-2018.pdf
